Mt. Kilimanjaro & Mount Kilimanjaro National Park
Mt. Kilimanjaro majestically stands 5891.8m or 19,330 ft. tall and it's the tallest freestanding mountain in the world and the highest mountain point in Africa. It runs approximately 40 km across covering a base area of about to 388, 50 ha. It's located towards the northern reqion of Tanzania, near the border of Kenya. It has since been declared a World Heritage Site.
The snowy peaked Mt. Kilimanjaro has 3 main peaks namely; Shira, Mawenzi and Kibo as well as a several isolated parasitic cones. The mountain slopes are covered by a lush mountane forest. Between Kibo and Mawenzi there is a large flat plateau roughly 3600 ha, commonly known as a Saddle. The Saddle forms the largest area of high altitude tundra in tropical Africa.
